This is a Saint you don't want to meet a down a dark allyway. Born in the 10th century, she was a Kyivan princess in modern day Ukraine. When her husband was murdered by a rivaling tribe, said tribe tried to convince her to marry their ruler. Since, you know, she was now single.
Olga had different plans. With a son to protect and a kingdom to defend, the widow agreed to marry. But instead of a wedding, she murdered the ruler and his servants. She then unleashed pigeons with little timbers attached to their feet, setting fire to the enemies city.
Years later, she traveled to Constantinople. While there, she converted to Christianity. We don't know what convinced her to do this, but we do know she took it very seroously. She took Christianity back to her homeland and set the foundation for Christianity in Eastern Europe.
